Let alone our marunadan users, even for those in Kerala, disappointment awaits. Dulquer Salman's 'Charlie' was expected to hit theatres today but they are on strike. Theatres on strike because of some welfare tax. We'd think this was good news, you know makes a better case for online release. Release the film online, reach everyone immediately. Not yet.
Malayalam cinema is yet to fully embrace the internet. Internet release is now commonplace in the US - Netflix, Hulu, etc. Everyone catches the first episode in their living room on their Rokus, Chromecasts, AppleTV and their laptops.
It'll take some time but someday the Malayali audience will watch Charlie online. And the next 'Charlie' which does not get theatre screens will not fret since it's releasing online anyway. In any case, everyone is eagerly waiting to see Dulquer and Parvathy this Christmas!
